How Much Does Cedral Cladding Cost per m²? (2026 Price Guide)

At the time of writing, Cedral boards cost roughly £34 per m² inc VAT for Cedral Lap and roughly £48 per m² inc VAT for Cedral Click, boards only. Once you add waste, trims and fixings, our worked example for a 30 m² wall comes to about £52 per m² for Lap and about £77 per m² for Click, inc VAT and before battens, membrane and labour.

Below we show exactly how those figures are built up, so you can swap in your own measurements.

Cedral board prices

These are Trade Superstore Online prices at the time of writing. Prices change, so check the product pages for the current figure. Every colour is the same price.

Board Size Ex VAT Inc VAT Boards per m² Boards-only cost per m² (inc VAT)
Cedral Lap (woodgrain) 3600 x 190 x 10mm £16.29 £19.55 Approx. 1.74 Approx. £34.02
Cedral Click (woodgrain or smooth) 3600 x 186 x 12mm £25.19 £30.23 1.60 Approx. £48.37

Lap needs more boards per m² because each board overlaps the one below by 30mm, leaving a 160mm cover width. Click boards sit flush with a 174mm cover width. Even so, Lap is the cheaper option per m² because the board itself costs much less.

What else you need to budget for

The board price is only part of the cost. A Cedral installation also needs:

  • Waste allowance: around 10% extra boards for cuts, ends and openings.
  • Trims: 3m aluminium start profiles, corners and end or connection profiles. See Lap trims and accessories and Click trims and accessories.
  • Perforated closures: 2.5m insect mesh strips at the top and bottom of the ventilated cavity, and above and below openings.
  • Fixings: stainless steel nails or screws for Lap; clip sets for Click; colour-head screws where fixings stay visible, such as the top course.
  • Joint tape: Cedral's fixing guide calls for EPDM behind Lap board joints and vertical trims, and on every batten for Click.
  • Touch-up paint: for cut edges and small chips.
  • Not included in our figures: treated timber battens or an aluminium frame, breather membrane (where needed), insulation, scaffolding, waste disposal and labour.

Worked example: a 30 m² wall

To keep the maths clear, we have priced a simple wall. Your project will differ, so treat this as a method rather than a quote.

Our assumptions

  • One plain wall, 6m wide and 5m high, giving 30 m². No windows or doors.
  • Both vertical edges finished with an external corner trim, 5m high each. Trims come in 3m lengths, so each edge takes two lengths (4 in total).
  • A 6m bottom run, so two 3m start profiles.
  • Perforated closures top and bottom: 12m in total, so six 2.5m lengths. We have used the 30 x 40mm size at its lowest listed price; the right depth depends on your cavity.
  • Boards rounded up after adding 10% waste.
  • Battens at 600mm centres, the maximum spacing in Cedral's fixing guide. A 3.6m board then crosses about 7 battens, and each board is fixed to every batten it crosses.
  • One roll of joint tape for Lap (joints and trims only) and three rolls for Click (tape on every batten: 11 battens x 5m).
  • One pack of colour-head screws for the visible top course, and one tin of touch-up paint.

Cedral Lap: 30 m² example

30 m² x 1.74 = 52.2 boards. Add 10% = 57.4, rounded up to 58 boards.

Item Qty Unit ex VAT Total ex VAT Total inc VAT
Cedral Lap boards 58 £16.29 £944.82 £1,133.78
Lap start profile (3m) 2 £20.40 £40.80 £48.96
Lap symmetric external corner (3m) 4 £33.79 £135.16 £162.19
Perforated closure 30 x 40mm (2.5m) 6 £10.73 £64.38 £77.26
Stainless hammer-fix nails (500) 1 £25.56 £25.56 £30.67
Colour-head screws (top course) 1 £51.27 £51.27 £61.52
Walther Strong Cladtape 50mm x 20m 1 £20.12 £20.12 £24.14
Touch-up paint 1 £25.14 £25.14 £30.17
Total £1,307.25 £1,568.70
Per m² £43.58 £52.29

About 58 boards x 7 battens gives roughly 400 fixings, so one box of 500 nails covers this wall. If you prefer screws, the stainless countersunk screws come in packs of 200 at £32.86 ex VAT, so you would need two packs.

Cedral Click: 30 m² example

30 m² x 1.60 = 48 boards. Add 10% = 52.8, rounded up to 53 boards.

Item Qty Unit ex VAT Total ex VAT Total inc VAT
Cedral Click boards 53 £25.19 £1,335.07 £1,602.08
Click horizontal start profile (3m) 2 £34.71 £69.42 £83.30
Click external corner (3m) 4 £28.99 £115.96 £139.15
Perforated closure 30 x 40mm (2.5m) 6 £10.73 £64.38 £77.26
Click clip and screw set (timber battens) 2 £103.92 £207.84 £249.41
Colour-head screws (trimmed top board) 1 £51.27 £51.27 £61.52
Walther Strong Cladtape 50mm x 20m 3 £20.12 £60.36 £72.43
Touch-up paint 1 £25.14 £25.14 £30.17
Total £1,929.44 £2,315.33
Per m² £64.31 £77.18

At around 7 clips per board, 53 boards need roughly 370 clips. Cedral supplies Click clips in boxes of 250, so we have allowed two sets. If you are fixing to an aluminium frame, swap in the clip and rivet set, which is the same price.

Inc VAT totals are the ex VAT totals x 1.2. Individual lines are rounded to the nearest penny, so they may not add up exactly to the total.

What changes the cost on a real project

  • Windows and doors: you lose some board area, but gain cuts, reveal trims, extra closures above and below each opening, and more waste.
  • Corners: every external and internal corner adds trims. Internal corners use a separate profile (Lap £26.04, Click £24.81 ex VAT per 3m).
  • Wall height: walls over 3m need two trim lengths per corner, as in our example.
  • Batten spacing: Cedral's guide says battens go at a maximum of 600mm centres, closer in high wind areas, and Lap should be fixed to at least three battens or the spacing drops to 400mm. Closer battens mean more fixings and more timber.
  • Insulation: Cedral is not an insulator. If you are adding external insulation, you will need deeper battens or brackets and deeper perforated closures (available up to 30 x 100mm).

What about installation costs?

Labour rates vary a lot depending on your area, access, scaffolding, the number of openings and whether the wall needs preparing first. We do not quote labour, so the best approach is to get quotes from two or three local installers using your actual drawings and the material list above. If you are fitting it yourself, read our guides on installing Cedral Lap and installing Cedral Click.

Frequently asked questions

How much is Cedral cladding per m²?

At the time of writing, boards only cost about £34 per m² inc VAT for Cedral Lap and about £48 per m² for Cedral Click. With waste, trims and fixings on our 30 m² example, that rises to about £52 and £77 per m² inc VAT.

Why is Cedral Click more expensive than Cedral Lap?

The Click board is thicker (12mm against 10mm), has a tongue-and-groove profile and is secret fixed with clips, which cost more than nails. Its price per board is higher, which outweighs its slightly better coverage per m².

Do different colours cost more?

No. All Cedral Lap colours are the same price, and Cedral Click woodgrain and smooth are the same price in every colour we stock.

How much waste should I allow?

Around 10% is a sensible starting point for a simple wall. Allow more for walls with lots of openings, gables or short runs.

Can you work out the quantities for me?

Yes. Send us your elevations or measurements through the quote form and we will put together a full list of boards, trims and fixings.
