Maintenance Tips

  • Annual Inspection: Check ventilation gaps, joints, and fixings yearly to ensure longevity.
  • Cleaning: Use lukewarm water and mild detergent. For tougher dirt, a pressure washer (max 80 bar, 50cm distance) works well—avoid solvents and focus on gentle cleaning from top to bottom.
  • Coastal Areas: For areas with salt or sand exposure, inspect more frequently, especially around corners, windows, and doors.

Storage Recommendations

  • Protection from Sun: Store cladding out of direct sunlight before installation.
  • Surface Checks: Inspect for any surface damage pre-installation, as post-installation complaints cannot be accepted.

Double shiplap Fortex cladding is a PVC cladding plank designed to look and feel like wood. Fortex cladding is used on the outside of garden rooms, home extensions, loft conversions and more. Fortex is easy to install, light weight, fire rated and comes in a range of colours.
Freefoam cladding is low-maintenance and weather-resistant. For best results, clean with a PVC cleaner or warm soapy water. A pressure washer can be used (at half power) occasionally to remove dirt and stains.
Fortex cladding can be repainted but requires a specialized process. Painting will void the warranty, so consult professionals for best results.

If replacing like-for-like (e.g., PVC with PVC), regulations aren’t needed. For other materials, consult local Building Control.
Yes, all Freefoam cladding can be fitted vertically. Use horizontal battens over vertical counter battens to allow ventilation. A perforated 'J' trim may be used at the base for drainage.
The thermal conductivity is 0.06W/mK, but since the cladding requires battens for ventilation, the U-value calculation uses an alternative external resistance value. This value can be found in U-value calculation software and has minimal impact on the overall U-value of the wall.
