Cleaning Your Composite Fencing

Using our composite fencing as a feature, for privacy or to renovate your garden space is a wonderful way to style your house. To keep it looking as though you just had it installed, it requires easy and simple upkeep that won't take up too much of your time. Read on to find out how to keep your fence sparkling in all weather fronts.

Dirt And Mud

When dirt and mud build up on your composite fencing, the initial cleaning tip is to brush it off with a broom. Then, carefully clean along the grain of the board with soapy water and a soft brush and rinse the excess water off.

Grease

With grease stains, the grease will not penetrate through the fencing so you don't need to worry. Simply wash off with soapy water and a soft brush again, or use a grease cleaner if this is necessary.

Mould And Mildew

Ultimately, mould won't build up if you clean your composite fencing regularly. However, as it is outdoors this can happen and so you can use a mould removing cleanser on the affected area. You can then rinse this area, but the best practice is to keep the fencing clean of any dirt or outside materials to start with.

Tannin

Tannin can leave brown stains in your decking and this is easily removed with a specific cleanser to take such stains away. After you apply the cleanser, make sure you rinse it off using water to ensure the treatment has gone.

Calcium Chloride

Calcium chloride can damage and distort the surface of your composite fencing if it is not cleaned and so this can be easily prevented if you maintain your decking well. Softly scrub the affected area and wash it off with water and you will notice an instant difference.

Chalk

Another easy cleaning tip is to simply use water to get rid of any chalk marks on your composite fencing. If this isn't successful however, you can use a fencing cleanser to remove the chalk and it will disappear.

Abrasion

With abrasion, it depends on the level of the scratch as to how you clean it. If the scratch is light, it will slowly fade by itself so no treatment is needed. On the other hand, if the scratch is deep you can paint the area and this will blend in well once it has dried.
