How To Clean Your Korniche Roof Lantern

Our Korniche roof lanterns undeniably look best when they're sparkling and the sun in shining through the clean glass. However, you may be worried about how you will go about cleaning them and whether it's a difficult task. There's no need to stress - we have all the tips below.

Interior

To clean the interior of your Korniche roof lantern, you will need to clear the area beneath it if it sits above furniture. This is so you can lay a sheet down or something to collect any dirt that may fall from the roof lantern. To reach the roof lantern, you will need a strong and stable ladder as you need to be able to clean all areas.

A duster will suffice to clean all corners and areas where dust and dirt could build up and then you can start cleaning the glass. For this, we recommend a non-abrasive sponge and glass cleaner with soapy water. To achieve the best results, you can use a micro-fibre cloth to dry any water away and this will give the glass a streak-free finish. Fortunately, we offer various glass options such as ambi-blue glass, clear glass, aqua glass, bronze glass, tinted glass and neutral glass which often come in a self-cleaning glass option.

This method doesn't take too long and the outcome is definitely worth it, therefore we advise you carry this out around every 3 months to allow for as much natural light to flood your house as possible. This is down to personal preference, however this is the best idea if you want your roof light lantern to look brand new.

Exterior

For the exterior of your Korniche roof lantern, whether it is white roof lantern, black roof lantern or anthracite grey roof lantern you will need a stable ladder again and this needs to be a specialist type as this method is slightly trickier than the interior process. It's crucial that you do not stand or lean on the roof lantern when carrying out this step, so perhaps work with someone to ensure safety.

You can then remove any dirt or debris and either collect this in a bucket or lay down some material, such as tarpaulin, to collect the dirt. Once this is completely, you can use the same cleaning products as you did for the interior of the roof lantern - a sponge, glass cleaner and soapy water. You should always ensure the cleaners and non-abrasive as harsh chemicals can interrupt with the self-cleaning properties of the roof lantern glass.

Once finished, you can then use a micro-fibre cloth if possible to achieve the ultimate, brand new finish. We advise cleaning your lanterns every few months, usually when you would clean the interior. However, we recommend doing so on an overcast day as the sun can dry the glass too quickly, often creating streaks and thus more work.
