How To Style Darker Skirting Boards

You may be thinking, why would I choose dark skirting boards? However, they are becoming more of a trend and we can see exactly why. They can add such a stylish touch to your home or a specific room for a certain theme. Due to the bold colour, it can be a great choice if you want to make a statement and this is why.

Contrast

The best way to style dark skirting boards, such as our anthracite grey, is to contrast them with the opposing colour, such as white walls. Alternatively, nude or cream walls would work very well with black skirting boards too, as any contrast with the light colours will make them stand out. If this idea is too daring, perhaps grey walls would take your fancy as this offers a less dramatic difference.

Colour Palette

If dark colours already exist in the room in which you may want to add anthracite grey skirting boards, this can offer a way for the skirting boards to blend in. This doesn’t have to be obvious and can simply mean the addition of black furniture or designs, such as a coffee table or art work.

Dark Room

The idea of anthracite grey skirting boards doesn’t mean you need light colours contrasting with it if you like the thought of a dark room. This can work perfectly for creating a unique atmosphere, especially in places like a games room. Within this, a pop of colour can always work well in terms of ornaments or furniture and suitable lightning.

Cleanliness

By choosing anthracite grey skirting boards, you can also worry less about minimal damage as they don’t show this as much. Small scratches will show up on lighter skirting boards, but anthracite grey will conceal this better and so your house appears tidier  – it’s a no brainer!
