What is fascia board?
Fascia board is a roof trim often used on houses. It is normally installed on the revealed ends of the rafters or the top of the exterior walls to create a layer between the outside and the edge of the roof. Fascia boards are commonly used to improve the exterior of houses, but they also serve the purpose of protecting the interior of properties of weather damage. In many cases you may also use supplementary soffit boards for venting. Often you will be able to notice the soffit boards, especially when the edge of the roof runs flush with the edge of the wall, however sometimes soffit boards are not visible due to being hidden under the eave. Soffit boards also offer a point of attachment for the house’s gutters, as well as drainpipes which helps drainage from the roof.
This part of the roof requires regular maintenance or replacement. For example, many homes still have fascia and soffit boards made of timber which needs regular maintenance such as repainting. These also start rotting in time or become detached which is a sign of the need to replace them. Old fascia boards can make your home rather uncared for. Not to mention that if you don’t take care of your rotting fascia bords on time this can eventually lead to your home’s roof rafters rotting too. We have a solution for you!

You could either nail your new replacement fascia boards on top of your old fascia boards, though we recommend that you remove all your old fascia and soffit boards and fix your new capping boards straight onto your solid roof structure.
